Alfred Benjamin, affectionately known as Benjie was born in San Fernando Trinidad on March 16, 1936. He married Jean Payag now deceased.   Alfred migrated to the United States in 1968 and at a later date he gained employment at the Cabrini Hospital in Manhattan, New York as a civil engineer. He pursued a number of courses to achieve his scholastic achievements in his chosen field.
Alfred had various hobbies which included fishing, coin collecting, going to Broadway shows and listening to music. He would frequently take his nieces Denise and Melissa to the theatre.
After the passing of his mother Ruby Benjamin in June 2000, he was persuaded by his sister Janet to relocate to Florida. He was hesitant at first as he wanted to continue working for his retirement. With the catastrophic events that occurred in New York on 9/11, he was given an early retirement package and it prompted him to make an abrupt decision to relocate to Florida in 2002. Soon after he purchased a condo and Hillcrest became his home for more than 20 years. He was nominated and voted to be on the board of directors, a position he held and took his duties very seriously. He was very well respected, made many friends and acquaintances at the Hillcrest Condo Association. About 4 years ago he reached out to Janet and Orville and requested them to move in with him due his declining health.
