Anthony Ubaldo Spallone

Anthony Ubaldo Spallone, age 89, of Hollywood, FL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on January 23, 2023. Anthony was born on May 16, 1933 to Antonio Spallone and Maria Marcasciano in San Bartolomeo in Galdo (BN), Italy.
Anthony is survived by his loving and devoted wife Frances (Palumbo) of 65 years; and his daughters Maria (Spallone) Certo, Adele Spallone, son in law Angelo Certo, grandsons Anthony Certo and Michael Certo, as well as, beloved sister in laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
At the age of 10, Anthony, began working as an apprentice for a tailor in his hometown of San Bartolomeo. Having discovered his passion for clothing design, he left home for Naples, Italy at the age of 15 to pursue his calling and develop his skillset.
Anthony established himself and began a successful career in men’s clothing working for MacGregor Sportswear as a sample maker and foreman in 1953. In 1957, he joined Michael Stern and Ripley Clothes in NY as a quality manager. In 1965, Anthony was recruited back to his homeland where he set up and led the design and manufacturing of high-end men’s suits for Gino Fashion’s in Florence, Italy. In 1972, Anthony moved to South Florida to continue his career and in 1974 joined Fairwood Wells in Miami, Florida where he was Vice President and Director of Design and Quality. Anthony was a member of the International Association of Clothing Designers and served as the President of the Southern Chapter 1992-1993.
Anthony was a devoted and loving husband and father. He had a zest for life that was contagious. He enjoyed seeing the world with his beloved wife and socializing with friends and loved ones over good food and music and enjoyed playing golf and cards with his friends.
Visitation will be 6pm-8pm, Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Landmark Funeral Home, 4200 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, Florida 33021. Funeral mass will be 11am on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Nativity Church, 5220 Johnson St, Hollywood, Florida 33021, immediately followed by entombment.
