Carlos M. Ramirez Vargas

1956-2025

Carlos M. Ramirez Vargas, beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away on September 19, 2025, at his home in Lake Jackson, Texas, at the age of 69. Born on March 2, 1956, in Taumarunui, New Zealand, Carlos was the son of the late Dr. Alejandro Ramírez-Miller and the late Maria L. Vargas. He spent his childhood in Blacksburg, Virginia, and Lima, Peru, experiences that shaped his worldview and fostered his lifelong curiosity.

Carlos attended Wayne Valley High School before graduating from East Brunswick High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After military service, he pursued higher education with unwavering determination. He went on to earn a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry from Seton Hall University and an MBA in Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University. His passion for science and innovation shaped a distinguished career spanning four decades in Research and Development.

As General Manager and Chief Technology Officer of Qaroma in Bay City, Texas, Carlos was a respected leader and a driving force in the field of Synthetic Chemistry and Natural Products. His expertise encompassed flavors, fragrances, APIs, cannabinoids, and specialty chemicals. Known for his sharp intellect and strategic vision, Carlos successfully navigated complex chemistry projects, fostering innovation and growth across the industry.

Beyond his professional achievements, Carlos was deeply loved by his family and all who knew him. He was a devoted father to his son, John Carlos Ramirez. He is also survived by his seven siblings: Maria, Alex, Carmen, Ed, Luz, Ernie, and Lou; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless cousins and relatives who will remember him for his humor, generosity, and unwavering support.

Carlos was a hardworking, funny, and kind-hearted man who touched many lives. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his legacy of love and excellence will live on in his family, his friends, and the many people he inspired throughout his life.
