Cheryl Simon Sims of Coral Springs, FL, passed away on March 11, 2023. Cheryl was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents Joseph and Elsie Simon.
Cheryl is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert, and sons Jonathan (Sandi), and Brian (Jane), grandson Benjamin Sims and granddaughters Madeline and Juliet Sims. She was predeceased by brother Bernard Simon and his late wife Marsha. She is survived by her nephew, Eric Simon (Michele), niece Leslie Kammer (Steven), niece Judy Jacobson, and great nephews Jared and Ryan Kammer and Benjamin Simon.
She was a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School and went on to attend Pratt Institute in New York and graduated with a BFA from The Cleveland Institute of Art. Cheryl designed greeting cards and books for American Greetings, Corp and continued painting with her works in homes across the US. After relocating to Florida, Cheryl became a freelance artist, designing for Recycled Paper Products, Gulfstream Card Co., fashion illustrations for JC Penney’s national buying office, fashion designs to Twins Swimwear, You’ve Got to Be Kidding, Inc. as well as advertising layout and design for numerous clients.
In 1994 Cheryl founded Hearts and Flowers Florist in Coral Springs. She designed theme parties and created beautiful weddings. Cheryl and her team created weddings in Cleveland, Akron, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Greensboro NC, Orlando, Miami, Palm Beach, Key Largo, and Boca Raton and virtually every venue in the local three counties. She established the shop as the best and most creative in the area and sold the business in 2017.
