David Elmer Zell, affectionately known as Dave, passed away peacefully at his home in Hollywood, Florida, on May 12, 2025, at the age of 86.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Patricia Zell; his brother, Philip Zell of Canfield, Ohio; his children, Stephen Zell and daughter-in-law Lana Zell, and Sherri Apakian and son-in-law Steven Apakian; his cherished grandchildren, Stephanie Alvero and her husband Medardo Alvero, and Christina Zell; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Rylee Zell, Kobe Alvero, and Khloe Alvero. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Zell; mother, Carmel Clauser Zell; and infant sister, Carmel Zell.

Born on October 12, 1938, in Youngstown, Ohio, Dave moved to Hollywood, Florida, where he graduated from South Broward High School in 1956. He later earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. In 1958, he married Patricia Wilson, his high school sweetheart. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and meaningful memories, welcoming two children and later becoming proud grandparents and great-grandparents.

A devoted family man, Dave found joy in spending time with his loved ones and watching his family grow. He was also a respected businessman and a dedicated member of Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church, where he served as an usher and led Bible studies, pre-marital classes, and financial seminars for over two decades.

In his younger years, Dave was an avid tennis player and later developed a deep passion for golf. He and Patty were fortunate to play on some of the world’s most beautiful courses with dear friends. They especially loved spending their summers and falls in the Appalachian Mountains, enjoying the serenity of their home on the golf course surrounded by family and friends.

Dave will be remembered for his kindness, strong faith, warm friendships, and unwavering dedication to his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 5, at 6:00 PM at Landmark Funeral Home in Hollywood, Florida. All who knew and loved Dave are welcome to attend and honor his memory.
