Henry M. Modzelewski

October 7th, 1933 - June 30th, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Henry Mark Modzelewski, age 92, on June 30, 2026, after a courageous journey with Parkinson's disease.

Henry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Bernice; his parents, Hipolit and Agnes; and his brother, Stanley. He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Cathy and her husband, Tom; his son, Mark and his wife, Rosalie; and by his two cherished grandsons, Mark Jr. and John.

Henry was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. As a young boy, he spent many summers delivering newspapers alongside his brother, Stanley. Those early mornings instilled in him the values of hard work, responsibility, and determination—qualities that would shape both his character and his lifelong career in sales.

He began his professional career with Beneficial Personal Finance before continuing with Veritype and Dexion, where he earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Eventually, he fulfilled his dream of owning his own business, combining his entrepreneurial spirit with the dedication and perseverance that defined his life.

Henry believed in doing every job to the best of his ability, keeping his word, and providing for his family through honest, hard work. His unwavering commitment to excellence and integrity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him, especially his children.

While Henry built a successful career, the greatest joy of his life was his beloved wife, Bernice. Early in his career, he met the woman who would become the love of his life. They were married in August 1956, beginning a devoted partnership that would span nearly seventy years.

Soon after their marriage, Henry and Bernice embarked on a cross-country adventure, leaving their hometown of Toronto for California in search of new opportunities. As Henry's career progressed, they made homes in Michigan, Connecticut, Illinois, and eventually Florida. Wherever life took them, they built a life rooted in love, family, and lasting friendships. Through every move and every new chapter, Henry's unwavering love for Bernice remained the foundation of everything they built together.

Together they raised two children and created a life filled with love, adventure, and cherished family memories. They shared an appreciation for the outdoors and spent summers and vacations exploring North America. Whether enjoying beaches and lakes, hiking, fishing, boating, water skiing, skiing, or snowmobiling, they embraced every opportunity to be together.

Henry and Bernice also shared a passion for travel. Together they explored Alaska, China, Italy, Poland, and many other destinations or aboard memorable cruises, often traveling with dear friends and family. Every journey reflected their curiosity, adventurous spirit, and, most importantly, their love of experiencing life's adventures together.

Music and dancing were another lifelong passion they shared. In their younger years, they could often be found dancing the polka at the local Polish Hall. As the years passed, they never lost their love for the dance floor. Friends knew they could always find Henry and Bernice at their favorite local gathering place, singing along to the music and dancing the night away together.

Henry will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, adventurous spirit, and, above all, the deep and abiding love he shared with Bernice and his family. He was a devoted husband, proud father, and loving grandfather who led by quiet example, teaching those around him the importance of honesty, perseverance, kindness, and unconditional love.

His gentle strength, steadfast character, and enduring love for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A funeral mass is scheduled for Monday, July 27th at 11:00AM at Little Flower Catholic Church, 1805 Pierce Street, Hollywood, Florida. He will be interred at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1500S State Road 7, North Lauderdale, Fl at 1:00PM.
