Jeanine "Nina" (Donaldson) Nix of Hollywood died July 21, 2026.

She was born in Austin, Texas, and raised in what was then the Canal Zone in Panama. She

returned to Texas to go to college in 1952, married Robert Donaldson, and moved to New York.

It was not long before they requested a transfer to Florida. Here she joined the Magic City

Sweet Adelines chorus and sang baritone in the "Fourth Dimension", a quartet that won the US

Southeastern Regional Championship and competed internationally, in Hawaii (her favorite trip).

At age 40, with 4 of her children in college, the last finishing high school, Nina returned to

college and began the road to a profession in social work obtaining her BSW in 1974, MSW in

1975, (a MA in Religious Studies in 1984), and Ph.D. in social work in 1992.

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she worked professionally in the field of mental health for the

past 40 years. The first 16 years of her career was spent working with children and their families

at South Florida State Hospital. Then, she was introduced to crisis work; she spent the following

6 years with the Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) with Broward County Mental Health.

Lastly, she joined Henderson Behavioral Health in 1994 to develop a (child/family) crisis

intervention team (FIT). Still at Henderson she then returned to her adult crisis work with their

Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT). Finally, with difficulty, she concluded her career at South

Branch where it was her pleasure to train students to be psychotherapists.

An Ecclesial Lay Minister in the Catholic church for the past 33 years, she was one of the first

Ecclesial Lay Ministers commissioned by the Archdiocese of Miami in 1979, into the Healing

Prayer ministry within the Charismatic Renewal, Chaminade Community of Faith.

Dr. Nix is survived by her 5 children: Sharon Donaldson, her 3 children, Shameela, and twins

Daniel and David, and great-grandchildren Delilah and Nolan; Patricia and her husband Harold

Bullock; Ruth and her husband Cleo Marsh and their 4 children, Sara (pre-deceased), Amie,

Bobby and wife Jenn and their son Lucas , and Christine and her husband Michael and their

three sons, Cooper, Carson and Cameron; Robert Donaldson; and her daughter Anne and her

husband Adam Berman, and their two children Nicholas and his wife Suzin and Spencer.

She wanted very much to give back to our community more than she took from it and asks that

in lieu of flowers, to please find a way to join her by donating anonymously to someone you

know who is in need! She also asks that if you have not yet considered being an organ donor,

that you think about it now, and if you are eligible to participate in any research studies (cancer,

heart, diabetes) - to do so. As for herself, she often said: "When I go, I want to be all used up"

(she was a brain donor, organ donor, and was an original participant in the Woman's Awareness

Initiative since 1994).

The viewing will be at the Landmark Funeral Home on Presidential Circle, 4200 Hollywood

Boulevard, in Hollywood 954-989-8220 on Tuesday July 28th, 2026 from 5pm-8pm.

A mass will be offered at Little Flower Catholic Church in Hollywood on Wednesday July 29th, 2026 at 11:00am.
