Holger Georg Mueller
“We wept that one so lovely should have a life so brief.” — William Cullen Bryant
May 5, 1971 - Oct. 8, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Holger Mueller on October 8, 2025, at the age of 54. Holger was a devoted husband, loving son, brother, uncle and friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone around him.
Holger was born and raised in Germany and shared his life for the past 23 years with his beloved husband and companion, Marcel van den Top. Together, they made their homes in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Valencia, Spain, where they built a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.
Holger loved entertaining and cooking for friends, bringing people together around good food and conversation. He was also committed to his health and fitness, staying active and disciplined throughout his life. He and Marcel shared a passion for travel, cycling, hiking, and discovering new cities and towns across Europe.
He is survived by his husband Marcel, his parents Hans Dieter and Anne Marie Mueller, his sisters Birgit Hein and Anja Rautenstrauch, and his twin brother Frank Mueller. He will also be dearly missed by his aunt and uncle, cousins, nephews and nieces, and his many friends in Germany, the United States, and Valencia.
Holger’s plans for the future were full of promise, and his absence leaves an unfillable void in the lives of those who loved him. His kindness, generosity, and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew him.
A memorial gathering is planned in Frankfurt on Nov. 9, with a funeral at a later date in Valencia and another gathering in Fort Lauderdale to celebrate Holger’s life. Details will be shared with family and friends.
Donations in Holger’s memory can be made to Sunserve in the US, the QuJu project in Frankfurt, or to a common flower/funeral fund. Please contact Marcel for further details.
