Huguette St Lawrence
SUNRISE OF LIFE 2/11/1952
SUNSET 7/7/2025

Huguette St Lawrence, born Huguette Louis, passed away peacefully at Aventura Hospital in Florida on Monday, July 7, 2025.
Affectionately known as “Guettie” by those closest to her, she was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. Olivier Louis and Mrs. Madeleine Lafrance. Born into a large, close-knit family, Huguette began her early education at St. Agnes School in her hometown of St. Louis du Nord, Haiti. She continued her studies at Institute George Marc in Port-au-Prince until she left her homeland in 1968.
Upon immigrating to the United States, Huguette enrolled at Brandeis High School in New York and later earned her nursing degree from Bronx Community College in 1975. Her professional journey began at Jewish Memorial Hospital in Manhattan, where she not only launched her professional career but also led to meeting the man who would become her husband.
Huguette went on to become a devoted mother to Steven, Terry, and Christina St Lawrence. After building a successful nursing career in New York, she embraced a warmer climate and relocated to Miami in 1984, where she raised her children and deepened her roots and community contributions.
Her nursing career spanned Critical Care, Emergency, Obstetrics, and ultimately Psychiatric care—a field that allowed her to offer comfort and connection to those most in need. Her ability to uplift others through simple conversation made her a cherished caregiver and confidante.
Beyond her work, Huguette’s heart belonged to her family. Whether sharing stories with her children/grandchildren, traveling with her siblings, or enjoying the simple pleasures of life, she radiated joy and kindness. She loved to dance, sing, and celebrate every moment spent with those she loved. Her home was a sanctuary of love and laughter; her kitchen, a place where nourishment extended far beyond food—it fed the soul.
Her radiant spirit and generous heart made her a treasured presence in every room she entered. She lived with grace, loved without reservation, and left behind a legacy of resilience, warmth, and compassion.
She is survived by her loving children and their families’:
- Steven St Lawrence, his wife Zarinah, and their children Naimah and Zaria
- Terry St Lawrence, and his children Tera, Joshua, Aniya, and Aubrie
- Christina St Lawrence, her beloved daughter
She is also remembered fondly by numerous siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews—too many to name, yet all deeply loved.
Huguette’s legacy of compassion, resilience, and joy will live on in the hearts of everyone blessed to have known her.
