Jack Fong Moy was born in 1934 in Canton, China. He lived his early teenage years in Guangzhou, China where he met the love of his life, Pui Ngan, who preceded him in death. Their journey together took them to immigrate in Hong Kong, where they married and were blessed with four children. In 1969, they received sponsorship and immigrated to the United States to build a promising life for their family. It was a courageous leap that shaped generations to come.
A former teacher in Hong Kong, Jack reinvented himself in America, beginning as a chef and eventually becoming a restaurant owner, working tirelessly to provide for his loved ones. He enjoys mahjong, card games, karaoke, fishing, walking in the park and spending time with his grandchildren.
He quietly departed this life on September 29, 2025, at the age of 91 surrounded by his beloved family.
He will forever be remembered in the lives of his children and grandchildren; Mary O’Brien, Billy Moy, Julia Mowry and Chiu Lee Moy; sons-in-law and daughter-in-law; grandchildren Ellen O’Brien-Wheeler, Kasey O’Brien, Jasmine Moy and Kristen Moy; and extended family members and dear friends who were touched by his love, strength, devotion and sacrifices that defined his remarkable life.
Memorial services will be held at Lauderdale Memorial Park Cemetery, 2001 SW 4th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315 on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the church or charity of your choice.
