Laura Leonardo Ricupero

May 1, 1923 - July 18, 2022

Laura Leonardo Ricupero, age 99 years old, died on July 18, 2022, surrounded by her family in Millwood, New York.
She is survived by her son Anthony Ricupero, her daughter Vivian Ricupero-Logan and husband Brian Logan and their son Lorenzo, and her daughter Grace Lennon, her husband Steve and their children Jonathan, Daniel and Laura. She also has 5 Great-Grandchildren, Jack, Adeline, Teddy, Michael and Quinn.
She is preceded in death by all her younger siblings, Francesca, Rosa, Carmella, Giuseppe and Carmello. Laura was born Lorenza Minciullo Leonardo on April 25, 1923 in Capo D’Orlando, Sicily to Giovanni and Graziella. She came to the United States in 1950 to unite with her husband Salvatore Ricupero and settled in Brooklyn.
She was a tireless, devoted and amazing mother. Since she herself was never allowed to go to school, she stressed the importance of education to her children, who all went on to college. Eventually she managed to teach herself to read and got a driver’s license all on her own. She was a very talented and skilled seamstress, painter and excellent cook. She worked in the fashion industry for many years and when she retired she volunteered at the local hospital and later was an usher at her church.
The Visitation is Tuesday, July 26 at 6 – 8 pm with a Prayer Service at 7 pm at Landmark Funeral home in Hollywood, Florida. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Hallandale on Wednesday, July 27 at 10 am. She will be laid to rest at Hollywood Memorial Garden Cemetery
