Mary “Sandra” Barto , a beloved wife, cherished mother, sister, and daughter, was called to eternal life Saturday, May 13, 2023, in Pembroke Pines, FL at the age of 54.   Survived by her devoted husband Thomas Barto, loving children Melissa and Nicholas, caring mother Maria Chaparro of Plantation, FL, supportive sister Nidia Chaparro of Bogota, Colombia and caring brothers Leonardo Chaparro of Cali, Colombia and Ivan Chaparro of Lauderdale Lakes, FL. She is preceded in death by her father Miguel Chaparro of Bogota, Colombia.   Mary was born on July 6, 1968 in Bogota, Colombia to Maria and Miguel. In 1994, she graduated from the University of the Andes, Colombia, earning a degree in Modern Languages. That same year she married her loving husband Thomas with whom she shared 28 beautiful years. Mary’s journey took her to Hollywood, FL where she found her professional home at the billing department of Envision Healthcare. She dedicated nearly 20 years to the organization, utilizing her valuable skills and commitment. During this time, Mary and Thomas welcomed two children into their home. Alongside her professional pursuits, she prioritized the education of her children, nurturing their growth and encouraging them to pursue their dreams. Mary was a compassionate and generous soul who adored her family deeply.   Beyond her dedication to her family and career, Mary possessed a remarkable linguistic talent; fluently speaking Spanish, English, French and German. Her passion for languages was evident in her proficiency and she delighted in her linguistic skills and showcased her expertise in diverse cultural settings. Mary’s adventurous spirit led her to explore various corners of the world, from the vibrant landscapes of Puerto Rico to the rich heritage of Italy and the breathtaking beauty of Switzerland. Mary found immense joy in exploring the world and immersing herself in diverse cultures. Additionally, she was an active member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church where she found solace and spiritual guidance.   A funeral mass in memory of Mary’s vibrant life will be held on Saturday, June 3, at 11:00 am,  at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, located at 7450 Stirling Rd. All who knew and loved Mary are invited to attend this celebration. As a beautiful way to honor Mary's memory, you are welcome to send flowers to St. Bernadette Catholic Church. While Mary’s absence will be deeply felt, her legacy of love, warmth and cherished memories will forever live in the hearts of all know had the privilege of knowing her.
