Miguel Salazar Omaña, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 17th, 2023, at the age of 87.
Born on July 24th, 1935, in Borojó, Falcon, Venezuela, Mr. Salazar was the son of Miguel Salazar and Rita Omaña. He spent his young years in El Sombrero, Guárico, where he met the love of his life Maritza, who will stay at his side throughout all his life.
Mr. Salazar went on to become an English teacher in Caracas, where he taught to high school students for many years. He was a passionate and dedicated teacher who inspired countless students with his love for this foreign language and its literature.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Salazar was a devoted husband to his wife of 63 years, Maritza Mota, and a loving father to his daughters, Maritza Hooks and Michelle Salazar and sons in law Richard Hooks and Tíbulo Camacho. He was also a proud grandfather to Melissa Angulo, Miguel Angel Angulo, Francesco Pace and step children in law David Schick and Martha Guerrero. Mr. Salazar was a kind and caring person who always put his family first.
In addition to his love of teaching and his family, Mr. Salazar was a dedicated sports fan, rooting for Barcelona soccer team with all his heart and Los Leones del Caracas in Venezuelan baseball. He also enjoyed following horse racing, and he was always up for a spirited discussion about sports.
Mr. Salazar is survived by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, sisters Lourdes and Alba, and many other family members and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family will be receiving friends from 3-5 pm with a 4:00 pm prayer service on Friday, April 21, at Landmark Funeral Home, 4200 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, FL.
