Sandra Corinne Grabsky, 81, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of February 19th, 2026 surrounded by love.

Born on October 25, 1944, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Sandra carried her New England roots with her wherever life took her — including to South Florida, where she built a remarkable career and an even more remarkable legacy.

A proud University of Miami alumna, Sandra dedicated more than 3 decades to education, spending the majority of her career as the AIOT Lead Magnet Teacher at Miami Central Senior High School. She was more than a teacher and counselor — she was a force. She inspired, mentored, and shaped generations of students who continued to reach out long after graduation, grateful for the confidence and direction she instilled in them. Her office became a safe place for her students as well as a place for holding high standards. Sandra provided fierce encouragement, and an unwavering belief in her students’ potential.

Sandra lived life fully and vividly. She traveled the world with curiosity and enthusiasm, always ready for her next adventure. Her favorite travel destinations were Italy and Hawaii. She loved watching sporting events and just the anticipation of the next event gave her such excitement. She never passed up an opportunity for shopping, dining out, or enjoying life’s simple pleasures. She adored her beloved cat, Lexi, who brought her comfort and companionship and couldn’t pass up delivering food to any stray cat that crossed in her path.

She was a lively spirit — a true firecracker — with a heart of gold. Sandra felt her greatest joy in giving to others. Whether it was supporting a student, encouraging a friend, or stepping in for family, she gave generously and without hesitation.

Though she did not have children of her own, she was able to choose her family with intention and devotion. For 40 years, she was a loving and constant presence — a Mother and Grandmother in every way that mattered.

Sandra truly lived for the moments — the laughter, the trips, the shared meals, the victories large and small. Her life was not measured in years alone, but in the countless lives she touched.

Sandra is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Grabsky; her parents, Elsie and Rudy Sigona; and her cherished pets, Hampton and Princess.

She is survived by her chosen earthly family: Christine Donald, Taylor Donald, and her beloved companions, Lexi, Ziva, Ziggy, Missy, and Bella — each of whom held a special place in her generous heart.

Her legacy of generosity, strength, and joyful living will continue in the hearts of her family, her students, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 28th at 10:30am to 1:30pm followed by Burial at Lauderdale Memorial Park at 2:00pm

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to Broward Humane Society or to bring donations to the Celebration of Life.
