Known throughout her life as Amy, she was of Cuban and Spanish origin, and the second among four daughters. Her parents, María Amelia Raventós and Aníbal Hernández were respectively from Cuba and Spain.
She was born in Havana on October 14, 1951, and lived in her native Cuba for the first part of her life and through her early childhood years. In 1961, at the age of nine, she left her beloved country along with her family for the United States.
In her teenage years she would stand-out for her gifted soprano voice. Her first public performance came before the Cuban culture and heritage community of Denver, when she sang the title piece of the operetta Cecilia Valdés. A performance that revealed her genuine talent and range — the kind that would allow her to launch an artistic career in Caracas, Venezuela in the years to come. Her achievements as a performer came to include: broadcast television appearances, opening performances for international artists, and record recordings as soloist with the renowned British record label Polydor.
Her return to the United States towards the end of the seventies found a change of profession in her life. She learned accounting and established an independent practice that she would maintain for the rest of her life.
But it was her personal mission, the one that came to best define her, and the one that has become her legacy. Having herself been a survivor, she dedicated the next 42 years of sobriety to the mission of helping others who seek to survive alcohol addiction. With dedication and a lifelong conviction to aiding those who struggle with addiction, she helped countless individuals to recover from addictions and overcome the challenges.
Foremost among her attributes was kindness, generosity, and a genuine interest in the well-being of others. These would figure greatly in deeds that would become characteristic throughout her entire life. As a person, she was kind, and happy, and warm, and exceedingly humble. She loved music and movies, architecture and sports, especially her beloved football; and loved her dogs dearly.
Amy lived her life with unconditional kindness for all. A beautiful sister, a loving daughter, and a warm being. She reached her 74th year of life. She is survived by her sisters Ana María and Beatrice, her sisters-in-law Teresita and Melba, and by her nephews Christopher and Dara the son and daughter of her late sister Amelita.
Services will take place on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at Nativity Catholic Church located at 5220 Johnson Street in Hollywood, Florida.

Conocida a través de su vida como Amy fue hija de una cuna cubana y española, y la segunda de cuatro hermanas. Sus padres fueron María Amelia Raventós y Aníbal Hernández procedentes respectivamente de Cuba y España.
Nació en La Habana el 14 de Octubre de 1951, donde vivió la primera etapa de su vida durante sus años de infancia y niñez. En el 1961, a la edad de nueve años y junto a su familia dejó a su amada patria para venir a los Estados Unidos.
Al inicio de su vida iría a destacarse como artista en el canto. Dotada con una voz de soprano, la cual lució por primera vez ante el Círculo Cubano de Denver con la pieza titular de la zarzuela Cecilia Valdés. En cuya actuación se reveló su genuino y sobresaliente talento, el cual le permitiría en los años venideros lanzar una carrera artística en Caracas, Venezuela. La carrera de Amy contaría entre sus éxitos: presentaciones en televisión, conciertos con artistas internacionales, y grabaciones de discos como solista con el renombrado sello discográfico británico Polydor.
Su regreso a los Estados Unidos a fines de la década de los setentas vió un cambio de profesión en su vida. Aprendió contabilidad y estableció su práctica independiente la cual mantuvo por el resto de su vida.
Pero fue su misión personal la que más la definió y la que vino a constituir su mayor legado. Habiendo ella misma sobrevivido, dedicó los próximos 42 años de sobriedad a la misión de asistir aquellos seres que buscan sobrepasar la adicción al alcohol. Con dedicación, convicción y humanidad ayudó a numerosos seres ha recuperarse de adicciones y ha superar los retos.
Entre los atributos más estampa de su persona estaba la bondad, la generosidad y el interés de hacer bien. Características que figuraron en alto en los hechos de su vida. Como persona era dulce, alegre, amable y sencilla. Era amante de la buena música y el buen cine, de la arquitectura y el deporte, en particular el fútbol americano; y adoraba a sus perritos.
Fue una bella hermana, linda hija, y caluroso ser que disponía de una gran humanidad. Llegó a cumplir 74 años de vida. Es sobrevivida por sus hermanas Ana María y Beatrice, sus cuñadas Teresita y Melba, y por sus sobrinos Christopher y Dara los hijos de su hermana fallecida Amelita.
Los servicios tendrán lugar el Viernes, Noviembre 7, 2025 a las 10:00 A.M. en la iglesia Nativity Catholic Church localizada en 5220 Johnson Street en Hollywood, Florida.
