Constance R. Hertwig

December 18, 1923 - October 3, 2025

Congetta Rose Tomasso Hertwig, lovingly known as “Connie” of Hollywood, Florida, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the remarkable age of 101. Connie’s journey began on December 18, 1923, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where she was raised with warmth and love. She was a proud graduate of Saint Patrick School, having cherished her years there from kindergarten through graduation.

After graduating, Connie embarked on a new chapter at Weston Instruments in Newark, NJ. Fate would introduce her to her beloved husband Henry. In 1970, with their four children, they made Florida their home, settling in the welcoming community of Hollywood. Connie’s faith was a cornerstone of her life; she was a cherished founding member of Saint Maurice Catholic Church and joyfully served her parish family there for over 44 years.

Volunteering was truly Connie’s heart calling. She found joy in giving back, whether opening and running the “Tack Room”, through her women’s club activities, hosting warm coffee and donut gatherings after Mass, or working at the parish’s Country Fairs. Her presence radiated kindness and generosity.

Connie was preceded in death by her dear parents Dora and George Tomasso, her brother Anthony “Tut”, sister Emily Scott, and her devoted husband, Henry. She is lovingly survived by her younger brother Joseph; her four devoted children Rosemarie, Henry, Patti, and Donna; seven adoring grandchildren Bubba, Stephanie, Danielle, Michael, John-Henry, Kyle, and Nicholas; six precious great-grandchildren Amelia, Charlotte, Miles, Chippy, Anthony, and Sophia; her sons-in-law and several nieces and nephews that meant the world to her.

A proud bearer of her Italian heritage, Connie delighted in sharing stories of treasured memories from the “good old days.” Her love of cooking and baking filled her home with warmth, often gathering family and friends for festive Sunday Italian feasts. She also cherished dancing the jitterbug to big band music, gardening and waiting for the arrival of her Jersey tomatoes! Connie was an avid sports fan, playing basketball herself in school, cheering on the Miami Heat and watching football with her family.  These are some of the many ways she shared laughter and joy with all she loved.
