Dr. Juan SA Wester

July 19, 1933 - July 20, 2024

In memory of Dr. Juan SA Wester who was born in Argentina in 1933 and immigrated to the United States in 1958 after committing to his two first loves: wedding vows with his wife Jordana nee Cecic (deceased 1988) and his Hippocratic Oath to the discipline and healing of medicine. Dr. Wester was a gifted general surgeon engaged in private practice on Hollywood Blvd for over 50 years. He has served as a two-time president of the Broward County Medical Association, FLAMPAC, Florida Medical Association, and delegate to the American Medical Association. He tirelessly championed the physician role in the ever-changing healthcare landscape. He healed generations within the Hollywood community and has had potentiating influence on generational care through his mentorship of surgical residents throughout his career.
His patients will remember him as a compassionate provider. His colleagues will remember him for his steady hands and expert skill. All who met him will remember his humor as he was always ready with a joke and a smile. He was a wordsmith, ready to toast any occasion and always working on the daily crossword with his operating room staff. He was an ardent fan of football and futbol - cheering on the Dolphins, Hurricanes, Argentina, and Denmark. His proudest moment was obtaining his U.S. citizenship and eclipsed only by births of his son John (Brenda); his daughter Stephanie (Nathan); and his two granddaughters, Jordana (Thomas) and Kayla. He is survived by his devoted partner and love, Dolores "Lola" Zima and her two daughters Julie and Vicki. Extended family and abiding friendships include Blossom, Terry, Connor, Dan, Samantha, Jack, the Tobins, the Salcedos, the Sayfies, and the Asseffs.
Dr. Juan Wester left us on July 20, 2024. His presence will be sorely missed by all. Please join us for a service and share memories in his honor at Landmark Funeral Home, 4200 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, Florida on August 10, 2024 at 2:00pm.
