Marjorie Springer Lewis – AKA Mum, Granny, Aunty Marge and Nenny Fenton, died peacefully on Sunday December 21st, 2026, in Hallandale, Florida at the age of 100.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Pamela Cust, son Carl Fenton and daughter Deborah Roland; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. As well as brothers, Mervyn and George Herbert. She is preceded in death by sister, Maude Ross and brother, Winston Herbert.
Marjorie was born on March 1st, 1925, in the twin island of Trinidad and Tobago to parents Stephanie and Peter. Marjorie was an accomplished seamstress at the Belmont Orphanage in Trinidad. She married Christopher Fenton in 1943 in the city of San-Fernando. After relocating to Barataria, they welcomed two children Pamela and Carl. Many years later Marjorie welcomed her last child Debbie.
Marjorie was not only an accomplished seamstress in the orphanage, but she also serviced her community and around the country with her exceptional talent of dressmaking, sewing and design-skills she applied for Pamela's (her daughter) wedding.
Marjorie was also extremely generous and charitable. Although she did not have much, she still gave what little she can to those less fortunate.
After migrating to the USA in the mid 1960’s, she sponsored several members of her family, including her children and her siblings. She always wanted the best life for everyone. She worked as a nanny and later started a day care at her home, where she took care of many children in her community of East Flatbush, Brooklyn. After retiring, Marjorie relocated to Hollywood, Florida where she continued to care for toddles on a part time basis.
As Marjorie aged, she remained a faithful member of her church and the Salvation Army Community Center activities. She further gave what she could throughout the years until her last months on earth to various charities including St. Jude and Boystown.
