Mary Lou Obenour

December 8, 1935 - December 19, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Matriarch, Mary Lou (Wierdo) Obenour. Devout and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, on December 19, 2023. Born on December 8, 1935 in Maplewood, NJ to Louis and Grace (Hyland) Wierdo both who have predeceased her. Predeceased by her siblings, Louis Wierdo, Grace Cawley and William Wierdo. At age 17, her family moved to Miami, FL with intent to purchase a restaurant as her father was a head chef. Mom graduated from Jackson HS and soon after was set up on a "blind date" and met the love of her life, James Donald Obenour. At 21 years old she was married and her life, full of blessings, grew.   She was a Catholic, the ultimate Holiday Maker, cook, talented at sports, club member just to name a few. She always had a smile on, and a gift to gab, or as we say, Brag!  She was devoted to our dad for 67 years of marriage and loved him and her 5 children fiercely. It may be said that most of her greatest blessings were her 10 Grandchildren and often referred to her as Grandma Obe.  They were her biggest bragging rights and that she did, to everyone and anyone who would listen.   She bravely fought Lymphoma for 8 years but ultimately lost her battle.   Survived by her husband, James Donald Obenour, her children, James Obenour, Jr (Kathryn), Cynthia Gory (Steve), Catherine Duffin (Frank), Victoria D'Annunzio (Frank), Sandra Hart (Mark), grandchildren, Ashley Woodling (Eric), James Obenour, III (Sayaca), Ryan Gory, Christina Gory, Danielle Stroble (Eric), Frank Duffin, Jr (Liza), Brittany Pettineo (Frank), Frankie D'Annunzio (fiancé Sara), Dustin Hart, Collin Hart, great grandchildren, Jackson, Landon, Harper, Charlotte, Graham, Frankie, Vincenzo and baby Duffin in 2024.   Our hearts are broken but believe in our faith that mom is at Eternal peace with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.    Mom, this is not goodbye, until one day we are together again. Until then, keep all of our fur babies close, they will fill in for our love.    Funeral Mass will be January 6, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 415 NE 105 th Street, Miami, FL 33138   In leu of flowers donations may be made to Joe DiMaggio Childrens Hospital, Hollywood FL
