Rachel B. Greene

October 2, 1938 - November 11, 2025

Rachel Burns Greene, 87, of Southwest Ranches, FL passed away on November 11, 2025.

Rachel was born October 2, 1938, in Valdese, North Carolina to the late Worth and Mary Houser Burns. She graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina with a degree in Elementary education. After graduating she moved to Florida to start her career where she met the love of her life, William Greene. They married November 29, 1963, and had 1 child, Elizabeth. Rachel was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years with Miami-Dade Public Schools. 

Rachel is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years, William (Bill) Greene; daughter, Elizabeth Greene (Bill Gordon), step daughters Casey White (Ray) and Cindy (Ray) Gustafson; grandchildren: Dakota, Ty, Laura, Theresa, Stephanie, Sarah, Melissa, Olivia and Emily; and great grandson Kylo; sisters: Janie Burns and Rita Burns, and brother, Nelson Burns. 

In addition, to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Glenn, Johnnie and Benny Burns and sister Betty Pate. 

Rachel’s legacy lives on in her family, grandchildren and great-grandchild, who brought her immense pride and joy. She will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and the deep love she carried for those around her. She will be dearly missed.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday November 23, 2025, 11:30-2:30 pm at Landmark Funeral Home in Hollywood, FL with service at 1 pm.
